Best times for each account
When you choose accounts in the composer, Best times for this account lists up to 5 weekly times for each one.
How Skylane works them out:
- It looks at the account's published posts from the last 12 months that have engagement figures.
- For each post it divides likes, comments, shares and saves by reach (or views where a network does not report reach).
- Posts that reached more people count for more, capped so one viral post cannot decide everything, and recent posts count for more than old ones.
- Posts are grouped by weekday and hour in the account's time zone. A time needs at least 2 posts to be listed.
Each time shows how many posts it is based on and how it compares with the account's average.
Not enough data yet? An account needs at least 10 published posts with engagement figures. Until then Skylane shows a few general starting points for that network, clearly labelled General guidance, not your data, with no numbers attached. Pinterest figures are never stored, so Pinterest accounts always see the general guidance.
Use a best time
- Click a time to put it in the date and time boxes, then click Schedule.
- Or click Add to queue at best time. Skylane picks the next free best time for the chosen accounts (one with no other post within 30 minutes) and schedules the post there after the usual pre-flight checks.
Plan your Instagram grid
Open Calendar and choose Instagram grid. You see the account's scheduled posts first, in the order they will appear on the profile, then its recent published posts with thumbnails from Instagram.
To try a different order, drag the scheduled tiles and click Save new order. The posts swap times; the set of times stays the same. Every post is checked at its new time first, so either all of them move or none do. Editors, admins and owners can reorder.
