Before you start

  • Sign in to the same social account that is listed in Skylane. Connecting a different one adds a new account instead of fixing the old one.
  • You are the owner or an admin of the Skylane workspace. Other roles cannot connect accounts.

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Open Accounts

In the left-hand menu, click Accounts. Accounts that need you show Needs reconnect or Expiring soon.

Where to find it in Skylane
    1. Accounts
    2. Connected accounts
  2. Step 2

    Click Reconnect

Click Reconnect next to the account. It is highlighted in blue when the account needs it.

Diagram: on the Connected accounts screen, press Reconnect.
  3. Step 3

    Approve again on the platform

Sign in on the platform's own screen and approve every permission. Keep the same Pages or company pages selected.

  4. Step 4

    Retry posts that failed

Skylane shows a toast that the account is reconnected and scheduled posts carry on. Posts that failed while it was disconnected show Needs you. Open the Dashboard, find them under Failed posts and click Retry on each one.

Good to know

  • Turn on the Account needs reconnecting and Token expiring in 7 days alerts in Settings, then Notifications, so you hear about this before a post is missed.

Common problems

The account still says Needs reconnect

A permission was probably left unticked. Click Reconnect again and approve everything on the platform's screen.

Reconnecting added a second account

You signed in with a different social account. Click Disconnect on the extra one, then reconnect with the right account.

Why accounts need reconnecting

Platforms give apps like Skylane an access token rather than your password. Tokens can stop working when:

  • they reach the expiry date the platform sets (LinkedIn and Threads, for example, need renewing periodically),
  • you change your password or the platform runs a security check,
  • you remove Skylane's access in the platform's settings,
  • your role on a Page or company page changes.

If you have turned the alerts on, Skylane tells you 7 days before a token expires and as soon as an account needs reconnecting.
